1. The Iconic Ariana Grande Pony

Josh Liu's trademark ponies and Ariana Grande are a match made in hair heaven. Ariana's signature high pony became part of her image around 2015, and even though she tends to opt for a bit of a softer variation on her power pony these days, her signature look is a forever favourite that never fails to kick up some serious hair envy.

Desperate to recreate this look, but worried you don't have the locks of Ms Grande? Say no more. Here's a great method for recreating this sleek and stylish high ponytail:

  • Straighten your hair. Ariana's ponytails are always super sleek and straight, so having a smooth base is key in recreating this look. And remember, always use a good heat protector when using a hot styling tool
  • Using some oil, gel, or wax on the base sections of your hair, sweep your hair up into a high ponytail on the top of your head, ensuring it's as slick and tidy as possible.
  • Secure this with a soft hair tie

TOP TIPS:

Use some oil, gel, or wax on the base sections of your hair when sweeping them up into a high ponytail on the top of your head to ensure it's as slick and tidy as possible.

Opt for a soft hair tie to avoid any pulling on your hair.

Tease your pony slightly to add more volume at the base

Want to give your pony more power? Why not opt for an extension piece?

When recreating the iconic Ariana Grande pony, the Stranded Bounce Wrap Pony is a great choice and it's so simple to use! You just tie your natural hair in a pony with a hair tie and wrap the Stranded Pony around your natural pony to secure the pony in place and pin it if you feel you need to.

2. Victoria Beckham's Low Slung Ponytail

Hands up, who else watched Beckham on Netflix? I know I did, and one of the things that really stuck out to me while watching is how effortlessly chic Victoria Beckham is. This was no different at the Netflix premiere of the docuseries. VB opted for a beautifully tailored white suit and soft glam makeup, with her dark hair gathered into a sleek low pony.

Given that VB wore her hair in a similar style to Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 and at numerous press events since then, it seems to be becoming a bit of a signature look for her.
Want to recreate this sleek ponytail? Here's how:

  • Brush through your natural hair, teasing out any tangles and taking time to define a centre parting.
  • Gather your hair into a low pony at the nape of your neck and secure it with a soft hair tie.
  • Take a section of hair from the underside of your pony and wrap it around the base of your pony to disguise the elastic.
  • Secure with a few bobby pins in the same colour as your hair and a blast of hairspray to prevent the looped hair from unravelling.

A great product to help add some length and volume to this look would be the Stranded Body Wave Ponytail.

3. Fergies Bubble Pony

Fergie rocked the red carpet at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, sporting an extra-long bubble ponytail that turned heads. The style has recently made a comeback, with stars such as Tessa Thompson, Taylor Swift, and Tika Sumpter taking the bubble pony to the red carpet.

It's an incredibly playful take on the classic ponytail and isn't as difficult to achieve as you might think.

  • Gather your hair into a ponytail and secure with a hair tie.
  • Use some product like a pomade, gel, or oil to ensure that your pony is as neat and tidy as possible, and to keep any flyaways at bay.
  • Then, approximately 1 inch down your ponytail, tease the sides of your hair to create a slightly rounded shape and secure this with a hair tie.
  • Repeat step three in one-inch increments down the length of your ponytail.
  • Accessorise your bubble pony however you like. Some opt to keep it simple, while others like to embellish it with detailed hair clips or patterned hair ties.

TOP TIP: Placement is key! Opt for a high pony if you want more of a sporty look, or a mid to low pony if you want a more sleek and chic look

4. Bella Hadid's Retro Snatched Ponytail

Bella Hadid is a woman who knows how to set a trend and seems to have the ability to make anything look amazing- even a side-parted, short ponytail. And guess what? Other celebrity stars like Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have jumped on the bandwagon too. Why not try this chic hairstyle and turn a few heads?

  • Use a tail comb to give yourself a side parting and section off your bangs.
  • Sweep your hair up into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie.
  • Tease your ponytail at the base to give more volume.
  • Wrap a section of your hair around the base of your ponytail, hiding your hair tie.
  • Use some straighteners to flip the ends of your ponytail out.
  • Use some product to sweep your side bangs across and back, and secure them at the back of your head with some bobby pins.
  • Spritz some hairspray, and you're good to go!

5. Hailey Bieber Barbie Ponytail

Hi Barbie! We love this flirty, bouncy ponytail and its retro vibe. The oversized, plush bow is just the cherry on top of an immaculate ponytail style.

Pretty in pink and pretty in pony, Hailey Bieber took the 2019 Met Gala by storm with this look and its simple glamour. Simple being the keyword there, let's see how easy this look is to recreate.

  • Apply some hair mousse or an alternative styling product to your scalp/roots.
  • Use a brush with dense bristles to sweep your hair up and back into a high ponytail, and secure it with a hair tie.
  • Use a comb to tease the base of your ponytail and smooth the top sections using your brush.
  • Curl/flick out the ends of your pony using a hair straightener
  • Accessorise with a bow clip, ribbon, or a bow scrunchie to achieve that cutesie look.

You could, of course, cheat a little bit and use the Stranded Bounce Wrap Pony instead!

6. Kendall Jenner's 70s Inspired Pony

This moment may be a bit of a throwback, but don't let that convince you that this look is anything but timeless. Kendall Jenner first rocked this 70s-inspired pony in 2015, but she's a celeb who consistently embraces iconic silhouettes and styles from the 1960s and 70s in her street style and on the red carpet.
This ponytail is probably the easiest to recreate and can be dressed up or down depending on what vibe you're going for.

  • Part your hair in the centre using a comb.
  • Separate your bangs from the rest of your hair.
  • Brush your hair back over your ears, and gather it in a ponytail at the nape of your neck, securing it with a hair tie.
  • Gently pull out pieces of hair for extra texture, and loosen the ponytail so it sits loosely.
  • Wear your bangs/front pieces down at the front of your head in a 70s curtain-style
  • Accessorise however you wish.

To add some extra length to your 70s-inspired pony, I'd recommend wearing the Stranded Bounce Wrap Ponytail. It's got great volume and does lend itself well to low ponytails as well as high ones.

7. Jennifer Lopez Half Pony

The half pony is a style that can be effortlessly chic while lending a more youthful, flair to your look. It seems to be one of JLo's go-to hairstyles, and we can't really blame her. At the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, she stunning in a sheer red gown with her sandy hair styled into a half pony that was both playful and elegant, and it's hard to resist recreating it.

  • Style your hair to the texture you want. JLo has gone for a blowout with curled ends here, but this look lends itself well to pin-straight sleekness, or to a mess of bouncy curls.
  • Separate the front of your hair from the top section of your hair until about halfway back on your hair.
  • Add some taming hair products like mousse, oil, serum, or pomade to the base of this section, and use a brush with dense bristles to slick the hair back.
  • Gather this section of hair at the crown of your head, and secure it with a hair tie.
  • Tease slightly at the base of the pony, and accessorise as you wish!

So there we have it, seven celeb-inspired ponytails that are bound to elevate your everyday pony and add that extra touch of glam.
