What’s the best length hair extension for you?
Hair extensions are the best way to add instant length and volume to your own natural locks. There are so many different types of hair extensions available which makes it daunting when it comes to choosing the right ones.
However, when it comes to deciding the right length for your hair extensions there are a few rules to follow to help you make the right choice.
Think about where they will sit on your body.
At Stranded International our hair extensions range from 14 inches to 22 inches meaning whatever length you’re looking to achieve, we have the right length for you.
The first step is thinking about where you want the hair to sit against your body, for example, you may want it to reach your bra line (which is approximately 16”).
Measure.
To determine the length that’s perfect for you, get your tape measure out and measure from the top of your ear to where your ideal length lies. Even if you think you know what length you need, always make sure that you measure so that you know for sure that you’re ordering the right ones.
Factors such as your height and build can make a big difference on how the length can fall so don’t commit to a purchase before you measure.
Styling.
Another thing to take in to account before ordering your hair extensions is how you plan to style your hair once they’re in. You may want to have the ends trimmed slightly just to get the extensions blended in but if you want a more layered look then it’s worth opting for a longer length than you originally planned.
As an example, if you want layers to boost the volume of your hair, purchase 20” extensions and trim them down to 18” to achieve your desired look.
Curls.
If you wear your hair curled or wavy then you need to remember that this will make a difference to the appearance of your length as the extensions will bounce up to accommodate the curls. If you curl your hair infrequently then it’s not something that you should base your decision on, however, if curling your hair a regular occurrence then you may want to add 2 inches.
Future trimming plans.
We can’t always determine what hair styles we will want in the future, but if you’re someone who likes to change your hair on a regular basis then you may want to consider longer length extensions, allowing you to cut and trim your hair in to different styles.
Hopefully this has given you a better understanding of what you need to consider when choosing the length of your hair extensions. If you’re still feeling apprehensive about what length you should opt for then we recommend choosing a longer length just to be on the safe side, that way they can always be trimmed and styled to adapt with your look.
